England

Wales. Just drivin' around the Welsh countryside, this pretty little church grabbed our attention.

London, England.  Some scenes from around jolly ol' London:  Parliament/Big Ben, County Hall & the London Eye, Westminster Abbey.  See if you can guess which is which!

London, England.  The mounted guard near the Prime Minister's house at 10 Downing St.

ENG-Whitehall.jpg

London, England.ground-level view of the historic Whitehall area on a (rare) sunny London day.

Mt. Snowdon, Wales.  This is beautiful Snowdonia National Park and the beginning of the long trail up to the summit of Mt Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. In typical fine British style, there is a pub on top.

ENG4.jpg

Mt. Snowdon, Wales.  This looks like the trail through Mordor but it's the route to the summit of Mt. Snowdon. The nice sunny day at the start of the hike deteriorated to a cold thick fog and drizzle near the top. I was really looking forward to nice British ale at the summit pub but -of course- they were closed!

Llanrwst, Wales.  This was the first time I'd ever stayed in a real castle. This one is Gwydir Castle, and it dates back to 1356. Built over 400 years before we were even a country!

With a little advance planning you can stay in one; many of these B&B-type operations are scattered throughout the English, Welsh, and Scottish countrysides.

London.  This page is a bit light on photos because I haven't really travelled much around England yet; it's been mostly a layover point up to now. So Big Ben says it's time to move on to the next country. (yes, of course we all know Big Ben is the name of the bell, not the clock!)
